Church Covenant
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we do now, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ. We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to give it a sacred preeminence over all institutions of human origin; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.
We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportments; to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage, and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church of like faith and order, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

Located in the town of Pulaski, Mississippi, Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church has been standing on faith and the Word of God for more than 130 years.
Looking back over the years, Mt. Moriah Church started a public school earlier called Mt. Moriah Gray School. That name came about because public records indicated that some of the church's land was donated by the Gray Family (J.C. Gray) in Pulaski, MS for the school and church. The school was a two room white building with a stage. It had two entrances, one for the lower grade students (1st - 4th grades), and the other one for upper grade students (5th-8th grades). After 8th grade, students finished at high school (then known as Morton Vocational High School). The school lasted until it was burned down in December 1957. Students during the school term used the church building to finish the remaining school term. The school was located on the same side of the street of our current church today.
Additionally, Mt. Moriah Church's old cemetery is located approximately one mile east of the present church on the left side of the road. It still exists, but not in use today. It is estimated to be approximately 1.0 to 1.5 acres. A number of identifiable graves with headstones are present, with at least four medal type markers that are legible. In terms of baptism, our church did not have a pool, therefore the baptizing process back then consisted of using a local pond. The ponds used back then are still in existence today. Mr. Dock Gray and Sammy Gray's ponds were the two ponds used. Both of the ponds are located two miles from the church, one on the right and one on the left side of the road. Later in years, Mt. Moriah used neighboring churches to baptize candidates until Mt. Moriah got a portable pool to baptize candidates within the church sanctuary.
God anointed and sent leadership that contributed to Mt. Moriah continuing and celebrating for over 130 years. Some of our previous pastors include Rev. Willie E. Jones, Rev. Dr. Edward Hightower, and many more.
Since the church has been established, the pastors, along with the leadership team and church family established spirit filled programs in order to ensure not only church growth but also the growth of the community. Ministries consists of Red and Circle Sunshine Band, usher, mission, choirs for all ages, deaconess, youth, men, health, culinary, trustee, media, nursing home, drama, dance-mime ministries.
Although there was a time when Mt. Moriah was nonexistent, God has continued to smile upon us. Presently our current leadership, Mt. Moriah has continued to be spirit led, faith driven, and body filled with the Word of the Lord.
